Academic Assembly
At the start of every academic year the St Mary’s Cathedral College community gathers to acknowledge the achievements of Year 12 students from the previous year. The College’s HSC results over the past six years have been outstanding, with the school constantly ranked among the best systemic comprehensive schools in the state.
On 20th February three students from the class of 2011 were special guests at the academic assembly. Dimitrios Mitsidis, the Dux of the College, achieved Band 6 results in five of his seven subjects, resulting in an ATAR of 98.95. Dimitrios spoke to the students about his study program, the assistance he received by working with his teachers, and the necessity of working with your peers to maximise HSC marks.
Dimitrios Mitsidis was joined on stage by Alexander Melara, who achieved Band 6 results in five of his six courses, and who will be studying Commerce Law; and by Willem Clancy, who scored Band 6 results in five of his seven courses, and who is about to begin studying Veterinary Science.
In addition to these seven individual successes, students from the College scored a total of 94 Band 6 results.
The full life of the college can be seen at its Open Day on the 23rd of March from 9am – 1pm.
